Hornady 140 load

What is the Hornady load in 6.5 Creedmoor with the 140 Amax? I know it is H4350 but I dont know how much and the COAL. I have the Savage 12 LRP and I have only shot 20 rounds through it so far. I really like it so far.

Where are you getting 140gr Amax bullets ?

States for the 6.5 Creedmoor and H4350: Min load 36gr max load 40gr Compressed. 2.82" OAL Velocity 2468 to 2660 fps

Best velocity load is H100V 36 - 40.9C velocity 2451 - 2736fps

But don't take my word for it. Look it up yourself.

Got two boxes from grafs a couple weeks ago. Only in stock a little while. I was looking for the load on the factory rounds with the 140 amax. I know its printed on the box.

Hornady gets an extra 1.5gr of powder into the case beyond a max compressed load ? Sounds dangerous to me. The bullet length listed was already pretty long for a magazine and matches what is listed in Wikipedia. I note that the velocity listed by Hornady (2710fps 24" barrel) is lower than what you read in early (2007) magazine writeups but higher than the max load listed on Hodgdon website.

Also note that IMR 4350 allows 1gr more (41gr max compressed load) while still being lower in velocity. Must be slower. Perhaps the Hornady load is for IMR 4350 ?

This is hornandys published load. Standard coal. But depending on powder burn rate sometimes they have 42.5 gr in the case. Yeah the book data is way under rated most people shoot 41.5-43 gr.

Now word has it recent hornandy loads have been loaded with something other than h4350 and have been slower with higher pressure so if you can load some up yourself you'll be better off

Thats amazing. I have the Hornady reloading handbook and have found it very conservative compared to Hodgdon reloading data. This seems to be a big fat exception to that conservatism. I do have a bunch of H100V powder and that supposedly produces the fastest loads without the highest pressure (it has a different pressure curve) so I guess I will be trying that in the 6.5x47 Lapua also.

I also note that Hornady switched from 4350 to 40.3gr of Varget for the 120gr loads. Apparently there were too many pressure signs in customer rifles with the "first generation" loads.

Yep that's old news but it looks the powder shortage may have forced hornandy to use something else in substitute for h4350. I looks like 100v but doesn't behave like it. Waiting for word from hornandy to hear their explanation.

I like rl 17, but I mostly shoot 120-130gr bullets. get 2900 fps with the 130's from a 22 in barrel. The 120's will break 3000. Don't shoot the 140's mutch.

I have dime sized 5 shot groups with 41.5 IMR 4350 @ 2.8" with no pressure signs. I'll stick with that for now. Thanks guys.
