Picked up a donor rifle today!!!

Went by Dicks today to see what they had.....and they had a couple savages on the rack. Picked up a 111 30-06 with DBM non-accutrigger on clearance for 279, I had a couple gift cards, coupons, and what not and walked out the door with it for 160 after taxes....thought I got a pretty good deal to start my first build....any opinions or input on this model or stuff I need to be aware as I start looking for stuff to build with

Thanks! I thought it was a pretty good deal and now that a few people seem to think so, it makes me feel better :) Im kinda thinking about a 280AI, Id like to do something a little different but not too off the wall for my first build. Any input or suggestions are welcome...

a .280ai would be a good one if that's what you want to build. Long range targets, deer, elk, pigs, or anything else you want to shoot at will be in trouble with that. You are going to probably want to do some trigger work, or put an aftermarket trigger in there. I say decide what you want, plan it out and then build it. The great thing about these Savages is that they are so easy to change around and make different stuff out of....if you get tired of it or want to do something else you are free to do so. You got a fantastic deal on the donor rifle btw!
