Obviously we can run a sporter contour in a varmint contour stock, I guess it really doesn't bother me, but have any of you filled in the barrel channel with anything to close the gap? Lightweight material used ? Just curious..... Most threads are about opening up a barrel channel rather than filling it in. Thought this might be a nice change of pace...

Why fill it in? The extra space just helps with barrel cooling. "Form follows function". ;-) But, if you really want to do it, it would be the same process as glass bedding an action. Then you would have open up the channel a little to free float the barrel.

I don't think I'll ever fill one in, like I said above it really doesn't bother me, I mostly wondered if anyone had done that, and if they had what did they use? I like the utility of being able to shoot any barrel contour up to varmint.
