Without actually measuring, how can you find out which models are small and which models are large shank actions? I have located the following rifle, Savage Model 16 FCSS Bolt Action in .7MM WSM online and I would like to know which size threading it is before I purchase. Only reason it really matters to me is I have some ideas to swap some stuff around with some parts I already have.

The barrel nut on a large shank is shorter.

The barrel on a large shank sporter barrel will have a step or reduction in size just in front of the barrel nut.

WSM is almost assuredly a large shank, but as with all things Savage, there are exceptions running around out there.
