Trigger Options???

So today as I was shooting I broke the bottom 1/3" off the trigger under recoil and sliced the hell outta my finger...

I've never had this happen in 35years of shooting... But the bottom of the actual trigger is gone.

What are my options?

This is a preacu trigger 4.27" 308winchester

Wondering if this is the time to upgrade to a Rifle basics or better trigger.

This is a short barreled precision rifle with a full 1" dia 16.5" barrel.

I was not happy with the stock trigger as it came but was trying to conserve money in the build.

I want a real light trigger, this will be mostly a bench fired rifle.

Sav-1 and Timney will get you to around 1 1/2 #'s. Sav-2 will get you in the oz's as will SSS.

Yep you need either a Rifle Basix SAV-2 or a SSS trigger. I have no experience with the SSS trigger, but I do have a SAV-2 on my 110 and it works for me.

If you don't want one that will go of when you breath on it, the timney and rifle basic sav 1can be set at a crisp 1.5 lb. so you can still use a safety and carry a round in chamber without worrying about it firing. around 100$.

LOL......Just in case nobody has told you yet, you can get a SSS, Rifle Basix, or a Timney trigger for it...........:rolleyes:

Now, how in the heck did you break off the trigger under recoil? They don't just break that easy, or atleast Ive never heard of one doing that before.

I would suggest the Timney. I have them in just about every rifle I own and they work great, are easy to adjust, and can find them for around $100.00. The best thing I like is that they make so many triggers for so many different makes so regardless if I am shooting one of my savages, winchesters, or AR's, my trigger always feels the same.

Well here the stub and the broken piece. Over all the rifle has less then 500rnds thru. I was firing just a standard 44.1grn Varget load which has become my standard target load, and SNAP.

You're supposed to "squeeze" the trigger. Must have gorilla fingers!

Probably a defective casting.They(savage) will fix it but I would go with the sss or sav-2 which I like as well.I have both and they both work well.
