I didn't care for the Hogue much. Felt and looked OK, just too flexible a forearm.

Boyds Nutmeg Prairie, stripling #1

223.

Fit pretty well, dropped right in. Bolt a bit harder to close first time but not second. Floats a dollar bill but a bit tighter on the left side, dowel and sandpaper will be a quick fix then I'l punch some paper.

Put one on a vanguard in 270. Had to clear some area around the tang and where recoil lug sits to get mine to sit correctly! Shoots very good now though.

Trig. I'm hoping it improves over that cooked ramen noodle of a hogue stock! Still have to mount the new scope, Picked up a Leupold 3-9x40 Mark ar mod 1 223 scope for this one. Later bed and pillar but i'll shoot it first. Been hovering around 0 for too long, not right for KY.

Big improvement over the factory stock. I was gonna bed mine but it shoots under an inch at 100. It's my fiancé hunting rifle now. And I know what u mean about the weather. 16 here in Mississippi this morning!

That looks awesome Shawnee! Hopefully shoots just as well too.

And the weather here in the Eastern side isn't any better either. It's just flat out cold! But hey, mid 30's tomorrow, HEAT WAVE!!!

Trig. If it shoots under an inch bedding can wait. It should, not much over an inch now with 55's. 60gr open to 1.25 but it's a 1:12 twist too. I have some 50gr to load up too.

Cold is bad. Even my chickens and roos combs freezing, few frostbit. Blood all over today, one broke it open. I left northern Maine for warmer weather 2010, this ain't it. It's just weather though, it will pass.

Thanks Mazda. Mid 30's will do with what we been having. Funny I never complain how hot. I wish for a breeze to evap the sweat but not a complaint!

New scope mounted and boresighted. Leopould 3-9x40 Mark Ar mod 1.
Boyds opened to fully free float all the way to the lug.

Looks good. Just curious. You still have the factory trigger?

Thanks Trig. Yes factory trigger, works good for me ;) Those rings and mount came with the rifle, good mount, much like the EGW I put on the Stevens 200 today too. heck, may be I didn't look. Rings are a vertical split type but very secure with the 4 screws per.

Yeah they look nice. I wound up putting a timney trigger in mine. But my trigger was awful. Had a ton of creep. One of the worse factory triggers I've ever seen

Timney is my choice of trigger, always has been. I never measured this one on the Howa but has always pleased me so I didn't mess with it. Timney may go on the Stevens 200, got to shoot it a bit and see.

First Timney near 30 years ago. Funny how we get to liking something alot and really stick to it. I'm still buying Leopolds too. :)

Thanks Rupe. I like the nutmeg. Pepper looks good with stainless.
