Just acquired my first Savage.
It's a 110 Tactical 7Rem Mag with a 24 inch bull barrel.
I bought it to build a 7MM STW off of,and need to make sure I'm correct before ordering a barrel and stock.
From searching this forum I gather this particular model is a stagger feed magazine?
Also, I have come to the conclusion this is a standard small shank barrel?
S/N is F405XXX

Thanks in advance,
Howard

Yes it should be a staggered feed and a small shank.

the magbox on the 7mm mag might be a bit short for the STW. i think the few factory STWs were built using a RUM action w the 3.6" magbox

Good point and one that I never thought of.
Got a buddy that has one of the factory STWs with the on/off brake.
I'll get it, pull it apart and compare the two with a set of calipers in hand.

I'm pretty sure it will work out though.
I know a couple of fellas who have had Rem 700s and Win Mdl 70s chamber reamed from 7RM to 7STW.
I'm involved in this to build a long range whitetail rifle. Looking to launch a 160 Nosler Accubond at 3200 FPS or faster ;D

Why would you want to go to all that trouble and expense just to gain maybe 150fps??
