Is This A Factory Savage Trigger?

I've owned Savage rifles for years, but have now just gotten into wanting to learn more about them. I recently acquired a Model 112 in .223 with a 20" Heavy Contour Barrel. Upon getting the rifle, I took it apart to inspect and clean it. This is not a accutrigger rifle, but the trigger on it is very light, crisp and has no creep whatsoever to it. With that, when I had the action out of the stock, I took some pictures of the trigger, which are shown in this thread. It appears the C clamp on the side of the trigger has been off and the trigger has been taken out of the action. I'm just curious as to whether or not this is a factory trigger that feels this good, or it has been changed. Any information is appreciated...Thank You

Just a guess, but it looks like a Timney or Rifle Basix trigger. Whatever one you have, I'm glad to here you like it.

It's a fine feeling trigger. I was curious because of the three adjustment screws on the back of the trigger. I don't remember any other Savage I've had apart looking like that, but then again, I didn't really pay close attention to the others. This Trigger feels better to me than the Accutrigger that is on my Model 12FV.

yes its aftermarket, the factory trigger spring that is on the side has been removed, and yes looks like a tinmy or maybe rifle basics. you can tune it for creep, overtavel, weight ect. the back overtravel screw looks way backed out. screw it all the way in till you cant fire the trigger then back it out 1/8th turn and you will have a light creep free trigger with no overtravel

Yes, Those are great triggers! very smooth and at least 100$ upgrade. I'd be very happy Since stock non-accutriggers can be heavy and creepy

Yes it was. It also had a $200 Choate Elite Sniper stock on it as well. I'm in this rifle for $225. Now that I know it's aftermarket, I'll try to find out whether it's a RB or Timmey trigger. I sent RB an email with the pictures attached to see if they could tell me if it's one of theirs. Either way, it was nice to find it in there.

I'm beginning to think you and I are in the same boat, or they are just busy. It's been close to a week since I sent mine.

Different from the one in mine. It could be a RB or a redesigned Timmey. I may send Timmey a email and see if they will respond as well.

GaryB, your's looks like a factory 3-screw trigger to me. Set up right they are very nice triggers.

Man, if I had a brain I would be dangerous! But, in all fairness to me, I inherited the 22-250 from my oldest son(nuff said about that) and I always thought he and I replaced our triggers at the same time. I guess he never did.

This is a pic of the Timney, and I am certain of that because I have the bag it came in and the old Savage trigger.

I'm pretty sure that's a Rifle Basix SAV-1 trigger.

I have the same trigger in my .308 110 that GaryB posted. Adjusted properly it's a great trigger!

I don't know what year it is. It also has a 20" barrel on it, and a local Smith told me he thought the barrel had been cut and recrowned, but it was a professionally done job. He didn't look at the trigger inside the rifle. He said he figures the rifle, when manufactured was either a 24" or 26". I plan on contacting Savage to see how old the rifle is.

I emailed Timney, and they responded by saying it wasn't one of their triggers and they didn't know whose it was. I asked if it was a factory Savage trigger, but they did not answer that.

I don't know if there is a number on it or not. I just took the rifle back apart and adjusted the overtravel on it per Luke45's recommendations and it feels better than it did. I'm gonna leave it alone. Some thinks it's aftermarket while a few think it's a factory trigger. Either way, it's a great feeling trigger, and for what I got in the rifle, I'm not hurting any. If it shoots as good as it feels, I'll be smiling ear to ear.

You were correct on your belief, FW. Got an email back from Rifle Basix and the trigger is a Sav 1. Thanks for everyone who took time to post on this thread. Information much appreciated.
