I am considering picking up a set of Lees Deluxe 3 die set for 243. It includes a FL die, a Neck sizing die and the seating die.

My understanding is that these are carbide dies and you do not need to lube the cases. I have read that some people still lube the cases for the FL die but not with the Neck die. I wanted to check what people on this board thought. Should I use lube with these dies, not at all or just with the FL die?

Also, since all of the brass I have is once fired that's been fired in my rifle I can get away with just using the neck sizer dies, correct?

Thanks

Why do you think they are carbide dies?

You will need case lube with the full length die. The other is a neck sizing die and you do not need case lube with it because it is a collet die. It is not carbide.

You can just neck size your cases if you know what you are doing.

Lee collet neck sizing dies don't require lube. Bottleneck cartridges need lubed when full length sizing, carbide die or not. Lee's full length rifle dies are not carbide. Neck sizing only is fine until/unless you have trouble chambering a round.

I thought I read somewhere that they were carbide. I may have gotten confused by the claims that you don't need case lube with them. I am squared away now. Thanks!

Their pistol dies are carbide only.
