Easy ? Define easy, LOL. The recoil pad is attached with the rear swivel stud and there are no aftermarket pads available. You could get a youth stock, easiest, or you can remove the pad, cut the stock to length and fill the void with a piece of wood, epoxied in place and attach a new pad to that.

i dont believe i want or need a youth stock , just a normal lop. this stock is at least 1" longer than any of the other rifles i own.

The standard length of pull on Boyd's stocks is 13.75", but you can order any Boyd's stock with a custom length of pull for $24.95 extra.

Thanks , yes i believe 13 3/4 is the norm on most stocks , but this axis is 14 5/8 if i measured it right , just wondering if this is a oddball or if some were mfg in this length.and why.

13 3/4" is about normal. 14 5/8" "is" long for a "stock" rifle if it is measured correctly. That would be from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad.

They changed for some reason or other. I just got back from the gun store and put two side by side and one was longer than the other. The difference is about the thickness of the recoil pad. I took the pad off my longer one and it matches the short one, with a pad. They must have shortened them. Pistol grip area and everything else is the same, just the butt stock section is longer, which sucks cause my pretty camo one is the longer one.

Same for me the camo stock on the 30/06 is the the one that is long , measurers approx. 14 5/8" from trigger to back of recoil pad. i handled another axis and the stock on it was a normal length (13 5/8"). bought this for a low cost truck gun and really dont want to invest any more money in it.guess i will try to unload it and look for something else.

13 1/2" to 13 3/4" is pretty much standard for the industry. I don't know what's going on with the 14 5/8" ?????

13 1/2" to 13 3/4" is pretty much standard for the industry. I don't know what's going on with the 14 5/8" ?????I just took the recoil pad off. I'm gonna plug the stock and just put a butt plate on it, to make it the right length. No need for a recoil pad on a 7mm-08 anyway.
