Anyone try either the Superformance 150 or 165gr. GMX bullets? What did you see for grouping and velocity? I have a 26" magnum contour barrel that loves 180gr factory loads so I am thinking 165gr. copper bullet would produce similar accuracy with more umph and flatter trajectory.

I have a buddy who uses the superformance in 7 mag. He likes them pretty well. Any 300 I have been around including mine seems to like anything 180-210g best. Can't hurt to try it though. Please report back if you do.

If you are really wanting a flatter trajectory and more umph then you really need to run a heavier bullet. The gmx with a BC of .447 at 3150 vs say a 210 berger with a BC of .631 at 2950 produces a trajectory within an inch of each other out to 600 yards. Past that the 210 walks all over it. At 500 yards the 210 has over 600lbs more energy than the 168. The 300 really shines with the heavies and will also produce much better wind drift numbers as well.

What you said makes sense. Just not sure the extra recoil is worth it when my hunting range is maxed at 500 yds. and I like the idea of the controlled expansion of the copper bullet. Is the Berger hunting bullet that good? I am open to reloading if that is going to make the difference. Any load data to start with?

thats the thing with the 300s recoil is an issue regardless of bullet weight. If your a fan of the solid copper bullets and how they perform then the berger is probably not for you. If you do want more umph you are going to have to step up in bullet weight though. But if 500 yards is your max range you have plenty of gun already.

Anybody using SF 165gr GMX?? Would love to hear any verification that this load makes the FPS they advertise (i.e. Super flat trajectory) and will still maintain the very sub MOA accuracy that a plain Jane 180gr factory load makes out of my rifle.
