Is it possible to re-chamber a .223 Savage model 12 BTCSS to .308 with just a simply barrel change or would there be bolt work or change involved? What would be a good barrel choice?
Thanks for any info,

You will also need to buy the .473" bolt head. Pac-Nor sells very desirable Savage pre-fit barrels.Penny at Pac-nor can fix you up.

Other than Pac-Nor ( a good choice) there are also Krieger, McGowen, Shilen, E R Shaw, Lothar-Walther, Adams & Bennet which is Midway USA's house brand, cheaper but not target quality, Douglas Premium. A&B are adequate as a hunting barrel. All but A&B are in the $300 and up range. I have three A&B barrels which all shoot 1" or better groups at 100 yds. Contact Jim Briggs at Northlander or Lisa of SharpshooterSupply for availability and prices on most barrels.

You will also need to change out the magazine box and a new follower for 308.
