B&C is missing the boat not servicing the Savage LA...its inletting stupid...in most instances the stock blank is the same LA or SA...the inletting program is done by CNC ...so pop in hte blank, add the software and cut it...but they refuse so LA Savage owners are forced to spend $$$$ on Manners or McMillan or Choate...no middle $$$ option like B&C...sucks to own a LA...

I said that to say I have a 110 in a CHOATE TACTICAL Stock...for what it is...a poor mans A5 I LOVE it...absolutely love it...I do wish I had more options though...
Agree! I have the medalist on a 700 though and I do not like the forend at all.

Talked to Pam at CDI on friday, ordered CDI dbm, LA short box conversion, with Choate tactical stock. Package deal, they inlet the stock, include's Choate tactical stock, CDI dbm, and one 10 round AI 308 mag. $535.00. 2-3 week lead time  I think its worth the little extra money to pay to have the inletting done. At least the first time. That way I know what it should look like

This is for a budget f-t/r build, I could of saved some money and just went with the Choate tactical and shot the rifle single shot, but I like the idea of having a detachable magazine feed/ multi purpose rifle and this seemed the easiest way to go.
Donor rifle; used Savage 111 in 30/06 $150.00 . Project plans: criterian bull 28" 1 in 10 308 win, heavy duty recoil lug , squared and trued barrel nut from northland supply.

I *highly* recommend running a 204/223 extended bolt baffle when using the CDI Savage LA/308 mag box DBM. Doing this, your bolt throw will only be 1/4" longer than a standard Savage short action. I run this setup on my 110 LA 223AI and it is great.

I just had my local gunsmith from Tactical Armz(springfield mo) inlet my Choate Tactical from a factory DBM setup to the accumag setup. Cost me $40 and is perfect. Tomorrow I well get my action screws and well be set to throw some lead down my new build.
If you really need to to it yourself you will just need to take the raised part of the aluminum at the back of the mag well and just make it the same thickness as the front.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/02/17/aqy5uhe2.jpg

Not Cdi but has anyone had a la choate tactical inletted for factory dbm ? My smith thinks he can do it. I've got a stock on order (it's backordered) when it gets here I guess I'll find out.

For those with bipod issues, you can use an allen key on harris bipod... Locks it down nice and tight, will not move!!!

Humm, seems NSA must be after my inletted and CDI'd Choate stock. According to tracking it has been on a truck from Jax FL to Columbia, SC for the last 2 days (About a 5 hour drive). Same thing seems to happen every time I order any firearms related item out of FL.

Got my CDI'd Choate in the mail today. Installed the barreled action with no issues other than trimming the front action screw .05 for the bolt close contact free. No shooting yet but fit and function of the magwell is perfect. Well worth it! Pics to follow.

I know the unusual weather were have in the south has slowed my shipments down. Might be the problem here.

PS: I am watching this thread as I have a Choate stock and I am thinking about doing the same. I just can't decided what I am going to build, maybe a short barrel 308 hunting rifle! Maybe a 243 or a 6.5 Creedmoor rig.

It will be strickly a hunting rifle, mainly for pig hunting.

I managed to get one over here that came with the cdi bottom metal, I have put a model 16 7wsm in it. I also got hold of a couple of 7 shot wsm mags to suit.
