Hey when did you go to the dark side and get a 6-06, speaking of 6mm in January, I will be ordering a 240 Incinerator 30" varmint contour just not sure on the twist yet.

Deal came up with another member here for a swap for my 6.5x284 and dies for his 6-06 and dies and I couldn't resist. You know me I like those 6mm Chamberings.

So far I am really liking it, but I still have a lot of load work up to do so we will see. Right now I am working on a 100gr Rem Cor-Loc bullet over nearly a case full of RL25 and going to see how well I can get it tuned. After I get that all worked out as a hunting load, I will start playing with lighter bullets at lightning speeds if I can find the time.

Do I dare ask what a 240 Incinerator is?
For some reason I have a feeling you will be going with a slow twist.

I find 6mm are the cats meow to hot rod and the most versatile to shoot,
a 240 incinerator is a 7mm Rem Mag or 264 Win Mag necked down to 6mm,
I am fully aware they incinerator part is a vivid description of what it does to the barrel,
my plan is to send 105gr and 107gr bullets to that magic arbitrary 4000 FPS number,
The twist won't be that slow, the optimum bullet RPM number is somewhere around 250,000 rpm,
so 4000 X 720 ÷ 10 twist = 288,000 RPM a 12 twist would end up at 240,000 RPM respectively,
I will likely end up with the 10 twist for three reasons, first in case I don't achieve 4000 FPS,
which I doubt, but it still leaves me a couple hundred FPS fudge room, 2nd in case I don't feel like sending them that hard,
Yeah right I can't even believe I just typed that, 3rd there are a lot of nice bullets between 80gr and 90gr that will foot the bill nice,
an 87gr Vmax has joy in mudville written all over it at 4200+ FPS, can't wait.

I have found Three versions of this chambering 240 Incinerator, 6mm Atlas, and 6mm Mach IV the only difference is shoulder angle, I will end up going with the one I can find dies for, now I am back to a 12 twist, I figured if my 12 twist 6mm-06 AI can stabilize a 105 Vmax @ 3600+ FPS, any of those variations should be able to accomplish it, with 4" extra barrel length and 20gr more powder capacity, With all that available torque, I might just order it in 14 twist just cause I can, and think of it if, I send 58 Vmax's 4700+ with they 06 on a regular basis so 5000+ is not a stretch, that equates to 600 yards without any bullet drop I could handle that,

that is crazy velocities out of all those bullets and i can't say that it wouldn't be fun to shoot that is for sure

That thing looks crazy. I see PT&G lists the 6mm Mach IV on their reamer list. One more to add to my bucket list I guess. ;)

Once upon a time I had a 14 twist 6 Mach IV that could really zing those 80 grain bullets but it wouldn't quite stabilize the 100 grainers. Since the advent of nitriding and with the availability of the ultra slow WC867 and WC872 powders I have really thought about building another one. I really wish I had kept the dies!

Hey Bob 14 twist a man after my own heart, do remember who made the dies, and did you ever chrono any of your loads.

I believe the dies were Redding , I did chronograph most of my loads but I let the records go with the rifle and load data. I was well in excess of 4000 with the 80 grain Hornady best I recall.

Jim @ Apache is finishing machining it as we speak, I might even get it this week, it turns out I went with the 6mmMachIV, the dies are a couple of weeks away, but a shooter who was following a post when I was looking for dies, had 50 pcs of formed brass left over from when he had that set up, turns out the guy who bought his rig nickel and dime'd him so much he kept them, and was happy to give them to me,
