Anyone have any 260 data using RL17? Interested in all bullet weights.

Before I turned into an AI, I use to use a full case or 49gr, with anything from 85gr to 120gr bullets and drop it down to 47gr with 140s
I also used the same loads to fireform my brass.

Thanks. Did you happen to measure velocity? I'm using H4350 to break in the barrel and then I want to test a few other powders.

My barrel is a 26" 10 twist, these numbers ar rounded off

85gr sierra's 3600+ FPS

95gr Vmax' 3500 + FPS

120gr various 3200 + FPS

140gr Various 3000 + FPS

When I turned into an AI I gained over 200 FPS, with the light bullets and just under 200 FPS with the heavier ones, just by adding 2gr to my loads that I gained with they extra case volume.

Thanks guys! Boiler that load looks good! I'm going to try that one. Accurate for you?

Bout 0.5" 5 shots @ 100yd; never shot it any further. I did see some pretty big temp swings with RL17, but admittedly the most extreme of which was due to my dumbass leaving an open ammo box out in direct sunlight on a day in the low 80s for about an hour. Other than that where it sorta got super-heated, I saw maybe 1fps every degree F.

Decided I couldn't afford to shoot Gucci bullets all the time so I switched to the Hornady 140gr HPBT and decided to run H4350 as well.

Whatever speed a given charge of RL17 provided, I found I needed 1.0-1.1gr more of H4350 to match it. Alternately, at a given charge weight, H4350 would be 100-110fps slower.

just remember to work up to the loads that are being posted here, as they most likely did when doing their load testing. BTW, RL19 is another good powder for the 260;).

I really RL19 in other cartridges. May give that a try !

Hodgdon Hybrid 100V, has performed flawless for me.
