I've looked at the law enforcement series of rifles. I really like the FCP-SR. I also like the Precision Carbine. Is the FCP-SR worth the extra $200? I'm ok with the shorter barrel but can I get 10 round mags for the precision carbine? Seems like most of the scope rails are over $100. Seems like the FCP-SR is worth the money with the longer barrel, and 10 round mag, and scope rail.

Can y'all please lead me in the right direction. I plan to use this gun for white tail deer and occasional LR shooting.

The precision carbine is a fine shooter. It will do a whitetail easily in 308 and be very handy in the woods to boot.
Its also a pleasure on paper. Spend the saved $200 towards your scope IMO.

Well I guess I'll add an update. I have been lurking since my first post. I know it's been awhile. I ended up purchasing a Savage 10/110 trophy hunter xp with the 3-9 nikon. I stopped before I bought the gun and picked up a Vortex Crossfire II from Primary arms. Those guys are awesome to deal with.

Now I'm looking for ideas as far as future upgrades. What is out there for this model. Also when searching is it a 10 or a 110 or will either one work?

Thanks

Congrats on your new rifle!!

The 10 signifies a short action and the 110 Long Action. Since, I don't know the caliber can't really say.

Ah ok. I bought the .308 which is a short action. I didn't know what that specified. Thanks

Tons of choices for the 10 series. You can change the stock, trigger, barrel, add bottom metal, get a new magazine and on and on. Just peruse this forum and you will find a ton of good information.

Great rifle, I have a 10 in .243 with a Vortex Viper and love it.

Clint, you also need to determine if it's a 'flat back' or 'round back' action too. Also, Accutrigger or not.
At least you need this info for a one-piece scope rail...
If reaching here, but, I think flat backs are non-Accutrigger and round backs ARE w/ Accutrigger.

I have a 110 in .30-06, love that rifle! She kicks hard though!

Thanks guys. I ended up getting a DNZ Game Reaper 1 piece scope mount and it is a round receiver with accutrigger.
