Mine is in 30-06. The plan is to develop 2 loads, one that will work in both my garand and the Savage (for <500 yards) and a heavy bullet load for longer ranges.

I also have a Garand and a bolt 30-06, and they original load for the Garand is 150gr bullet and 48gr of H4895, I use that in both and they work flawlessly, I use Sierra's 150s, just a heads up the Garand will work with the higher pressures loads of the bolt action, but you are severely beating it up when it cycles from the recoil.

Yes, I've read about this. However, I think a 168gr MK will work (with the right powder) and won't kill the Garand, but offer decent performance at moderate range. The Savage only load will likely be a 220 gr MK and use a different poweder. They wil look different enough that there will be no chance of mixing up the two.

Probably won't build anything this year since I already don't have enough time to shoot what I have.

I'm thinking about building one like that also. Or at least switch the barrel and optics on my 308.

Was thinking the same thing....I need to catch up on the last two.

Once I get the action T&T'd I will finally finish my 6.5 Creedmoor as I finally have all the pieces (thanks to a vendor screw up this has taken over a year), I have a 284 Winchester all purpose hunting rifle based off an Axis currently in the works, and if money allows I will probably start my wildcat ELR rifle.

Wife was talking about wanting a rifle so I am thinking a 6.5 Creedmore.

Just an update. We ended up buying me a Savage 10T from Cabelas. 24" heavy barrel 1:10 5R rifling. Finally got to the range yesterday and it shoots great. Wife told me she really wants an AR, so no savage build and no 6.5 Creedmore.

Edit: just realized I have been spelling Creedmoor wrong this whole time.

If I ever finish the two spread all over the work bench, one very much like the pic CAPTBEACH shows except prob, maybe, most likely, 260AI with 20" barrel.

I'm working on a .460 Smith and Wesson. I'm using a barrel blank. It'll be 16.5" and threaded for a suppressor.
The idea is that you can use a full load in the .460 and whack anything that moves.
Or, you can load off the shelf .45 Colts that run at 900 FPS through a suppressor that is quiet and still hits like a ton of bricks.

Also working on a .45 ACP edition for the same reason...suppressed.

And soon...the .500 Smith and Wesson that'll shoot a 500 grain bullet suppressed.

257 Bob AI....Boyd's thumbhole laminate on a Model 11 acutrigger.....PC7 bed....
Setback a 25-06 Adams & Bennet barrel about .350 thou...Faced the nut off .090...Reamed clean with no need for more threads....Formed cases from old 25-06 brass (can't seem to find Roberts brass)...Now have some 7X57 Nosler brass necked and ready to fireform....First 4 shots from the 25-06 converted & fireformed brass had 3 touching and about 1/2" total at a hundred...Sweet for no load developement yet.....

This one will be mine but have another .243 to do for another grandson later this spring...Also maybe a 7mm Mag for my oldest son's B. I. L......might be a busy year again...Last year only did two a .260 for a grandson and a 6.5-06 for mysely....Safe is full time to go shooting...Wish our snow would stop!

Later,
Randy

300 Win. Mag...I read in a tactical world publication, that at the 2014 shot show the big three i.e. Remington, savage, winchester have all had a substantual increase in bolt sales based on a escalating intrest in long range shooting. A common phrase used lately is "A mile is the new 1000 yrds" that said, 338 lapua Mag,408 Chey Tac, and of course the fifty are all front runners in this category, however the winning caliber forcasted for 2014 for the general public is the Win. Mag. Miller Precision Arms even offers an A.R. in said caliber.

This really is true, I would have never thought I would build a 300 RUM, but I already have the barrel, stock, and scope on order, and the action is sitting in my safe. I have always loved shooting "long range", but hitting a 14" target at a mile with my buddy's Lapua got me hooked even worse. So I am building a 300 RUM specifically designed to go out to 2000+ yards with the 230gr Berger Hybrids. Once I shoot out the barrel I will move to a 338 Edge to really start to push my long range game out to the next level.

Already done, 223 7 twist, 26" heavy barrel.

Working on a 9.3x62 but not on a savage action. Also a 8x57 not on a Savage.

Probably will swap a 7mm08 bbl for a 6.5x55 one day.
