I need help with a decision on a scope for my 22-250(p-dogs, yotes, targets). I can get a used (lightly) VXIII 4.5-14x40 for $400 or should I try a new Redfield 4-12x40 for $200? thanks for the thoughts!

If you have $400 to spend buy two of the Redfields, send one to me ;) The yotes and p-dogs won't know.

If you can afford it, always buy the best.

There seems to be a lot of scopes out there in the $300 to $400 range with better glass than the older VX-III. I'd look for a Bushnell 4200. Lots of good user reviews on the Vortex. Just heard ad hype on the new Redfield's. Still waiting for user reviews.

Go to www.opticstalk.com and read the reviews from the optic guys then ask some questions. After that you can make a informed decision.
