So I followed the instructions in the manual to install the bolt but now the safety is stuck in mid position and I can slide the bolt in and out. What am I missing? The instructions just say to insure the safety will function in all three positions after closing the bolt. It doesn't say what to do if it doesn't. I don't want to force anything.

So when you close the bolt it will not move forward or rearward? You tried to squeeze the trigger? What happened when you did? Have you ever owned a rifle? If it is a new rifle you may need call savage.

Does the safety move if you trip the accu-safety blade ? Maybe try re cocking the bolt ?

Trigger is stuck in fixed position, the safety blade moves freely, the bolt will lock fully, but will also pull right out instead of stopping at the open position. Yes it is a new rifle. Yes I have owned and worked on many rifles mostly military. You guys are the SME here so I figured I would ask to see if anyone had encountered the problem before.

Should be a screw that sets the tension on the safety block. Not sure if I am speaking in exact terminology. Take the rifle out of the stock and look up into the safety area. A small Allen wrench should adjust it until your safety moves.

Thanks Snow I called in a favor to a friend who called his friend that works for a shop in town and he told me the same thing. It worked. Now to put some rounds down range tomorrow for barrel break-in. I kinda doubt this one shoots as well out of the box the scope is mounted crooked.

It sounds like the sear is either binding on the trigger ramp, or the sear is hitting the stock somewhere, preventing the sear from moving forward. Take the action out of the stock and see if it works. If it does look for the spot where it's binding. If not, it's probably binding on the trigger ramp.

I would take the action out of stock & try it. Sounds like sear is jammed in fired position. If it works out of stock, check stock for interference.

OP, did you get it fixed ?

Yes I did. Thanks. I had to hold the bolt closed and push the bolt release button and put a little tension on the trigger then push the safety. For the life of me I cannot get it to repeat the hang up. It is working flawlessly now. I took it out and did the barrel break in today.
