I have just broke in my new 11vt in 22-250 and would like to start working up a load for it. I have limited access to powders. Hogdon is about it, I can get some h322,h355 or possibly cfe223. I have been shooting 55gr for predator hunting. Does anyone have any load data for these powders.

Getting hold of some H380 would be a plus.

Getting hold of some H380 would be a plus.

And here's why:
h380 This was an unnamed spherical rifle propellant when the late Bruce Hodgdon first used it. When a 38.0 grain charge behind a 52 grain bullet gave one hole groups from his 22 caliber wildcat (now called the 22-250), he appropriately named the powder H380. H380 is also a superb performer in the 220 Swift, 243, 257 Roberts and other fine varmint cartridges. Available in 1 lb. & 8 lb. containers.

XBR8208, Varget, Benchmark, H414, RE15, A2400 and Power Pro 2000MR all work good in the 22-250.

Out of your list I would work up with the CFE starting at 35 and ending at 40.

Alot of those powders will work really well for you...I mainly use IMR4064 but Ive tinkered with some of the aforementioned powders and had good luck with them, Varget will make 40s scream in both of my 250s but I just dont quite have the accuracy as with the heavier bullets

37.5 H380 does it for me.

If your temps get quite high where you hunt, I would suggest an extreme powder. I know a couple first hand where temps in the high 80s to 90s useing H380 is a no no when useing 38gr or better. The pressure was quite excessive. I had great results with varget and sierria 55 gr spitzers for accuracy and knock down from groundhogs to deer. That in my rifle is a great combo.

My FVSS loves Sierra 1365 55 grain Gamekings using 36 grains of Varget.

Thanx for the input. I picked-up some cfe223 I think that is the best powder for me, granted the limited supply, for the time being. hopefully things get better.

The powders you list are on the fast end of .22-250 powders. I have shot lots of 4895 (both versions), 4064, H380, and Big Game. I went several years without a .22-250 after the groundhogs were wiped out by the coyotes. I have started shooting a .22-250 again with Big Game and Varget. RL15 would be a good choice too.

I know you didn't list Varget as a powder you are looking at but 35.5 GR of Varget pushing a 55 gr Hornady V-MAX will give me less than 1" at 200 yds if I do my part.

I may have access to varget in the future and maybe some retumbo if I'm lucky. For the time being I've got the cfe223 and some 7828ssc.
Thanx for the info I appreciate it.
