Shot my first elk a few weeks ago here in MT. All I can say is that I'm hooked!! Drove into a few 4x4 bulls about 900 yds away and hopped out of the trucks at that point. Started moving closer with good wind. By the time we topped two hills they were long gone! Incredible how fast they can move. Spotted them on another ranch 1100yds away.
We couldn't shoot on that one as o we walked a ridge that had a series of saddles and another guy in the group halted us. 50yds away were about 100 head. They stated funneling on our side of the ridge and after 10 min there were about 250 head walking away from us with a good mix of bulls. We hopped on the other side of the ridge and sprinted to cut them off. Crawled to the top of the ridge and they were 300yds away starting to bed down.
There were 3 guys to fill there tags and I called my bull. We spotted another bull bedded down and myself and another guy shot at the same time. Mine dropped in his tracks at 350 yds quartering towards me. Other guy missed. The other two ended up filling their tags. Some of the best meat I've ever had! The wife and kids love it also. Shooting a Ruger Scout .308 16"barrel. 130grain Barnes tripple shok at 3945fps. Bushnell elite 10x mildot scope. Can't wait for next season!http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/10/gaqysu4u.jpghttp://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/10/5a7ujana.jpg
