Brand new here, need some help.
Have a model 99F / .300 sav. trying to figure out if it can be re chambered / barreled for a 6.5 creedmoor
without modifications to the rotary receiver
Ideally like to put a 23" #2 contour on it
Any advice is appreciated, Thanks J.

99's aren't like 110's, you can't easily swap the barrels. For that matter, I don't even know of any gunsmiths who will take on the hassle of making/fitting a new barrel to a 99.

Do yourself (and your classic 99F) a favor and get yourself a cheap Savage Axis to convert into a 6.5 Creedmoor if you really want one. You won't ruin the value of you're 99, and the price of the Axis and a pre-fit barrel combined will likely be less than you'd have in getting a custom barrel made for you 99 - assuming you could find someone to do it. And the best part is you won't have to worry about any magazine feeding issues.

Yep, there would definitely be some problems trying to fit that rotor to that caliber. Cripes guys have had to rework the rotor going from 308 to 358 and it's the same casing.

Imo sell that gun and buy a CM off gunboker.

I had to part with my old 788 and move on. Just wasn't worth rebarreling.
