From what I am reading these are basically the same rifle, ie no accustock and no accutrigger. Other than the Scope & Mounts included with the Savage 11/111 Hunter XP the main differences seem to be the color of the stock and the Magazine. The Stevens Model 200 has an internal center feed magazine and the Savage 11/111 Hunter XP has a center feed detachable box magazine.

What are the pros and cons of one design vs the other in regards to the magazines?

Thanks

The design is the same. The rifle is the same. One has more features and a trigger upgrade. The Stevens is a no frills down and dirty basic rifle with a very cheap stock(not a problem) and usually a marginal finish. The XP has a scope that most people throw away,.... If they have any morals, an accu-trigger and the detachable magazine with a slightly better stock. So it comes down to you. Most people like the ability to unload without having to chamber every round and then eject.
