Your welcome. Check that $199 price from Sinclair....there are two different F Class bipods. One with and one without the adjustable elevation (talking micro adjust, not the legs). IIRC, the non adjustable one was $199. If you can get the adjustable model for $199, good deal.

I just picked up a 11 VT in .308 at Dicks. I opened a DSG credit card to get an additional 10% off, and also used a rebate check I got from all my ammo purchases. I ended up getting the rifle for $478.00 out the door - tax, background check fee, everything. What a deal. The rifle is heavy but I intend to use it as a bench gun at the local range - so heavy is a plus. I compared the Savage barrel to my Ruger M77 VT .223 (Stainless bolt action with heavy barrel), and Ruger M77 VT .308 (older tang safety bolt action heavy barrel). The Savage 11 VT was clearly a heavier profile barrel than both those rifles. The finish on the savage looks good and even. The accutrigger is great out of the box, and needs no adjustment. I am going to swap out the scope it comes with for a Sightron SIII I have sitting in my safe. The stock that comes with it actually is kind of ok - it has a good recoil pad, nice shape, and two sling swivel studs. However, I will probably end up replacing it for something stiffer that won't flex with a bipod or in sandbags. So far I am feeling pretty good about this purchase.

Have you actually tried it with a bipod or on bags? It won't flex.

I have the 11vt in 308 and it flexes very easily, with little pressure, squeezing with my hand.

yes but 8 lb gun on a bipod up front will probably have 50% of the weight on the front stud, it should not touch.

I did purchase some H335 and plan on reloading soon. My wife had hip replacement surgery the week before Christmas. I've been taking care of her and have not been able to get to the range. She starts therapy this Friday so hopefully will get to the range within a few weeks.

Happy New Year to all my fellow Savage owners!

When was the last time you shot your rifle while squeezing the the stock & barrel together?

I have done a lot of extensive testing with Savage 223's with a 1 in 9 twist. 2 of the very best load (1) 69gr Sierra Match Kings with 25.0 grs of Winchester 748 Federal 205m primer set .010 off lands (2) 73gr Berger VLD with 24.0grs Winchester 748 Federal 205m primer set .005 off lands. I haven't found and big difference in brass Remington, Lapua or Winchester. The rifles will shoot almost any powder and weight bullets in sub 1/2" 5shot groups But the 2 loads above will shoot in the 1's. and is the best I have found and they seem to work in every Savage 223 with a 1 in 9 twist.

You quite the comedian aren't ya?? I was simply stating the stock feels flimsy to me!

More a realist than comedian. The point I was trying to convey is that sometimes folks seek a problem that doesn't exist.
Have you actually placed your rifle on a bipod and tried to slide a dollar bill along the barrel? Please do so and then report.
I understand your point, there is flex in about any plastic stock, but the 11VT does NOT flex enough to create a problem.
