I have a buddy who is wanting to get into long range after seeing my 7-300.

His rifle will be a 300win that I will be keeping track of and report all the pieces going into the build as it goes as well as posting pictures. I am glad to be able to put something together again for someone else, especially since he said he trusts my decisions on what will go into the gun. I have not built a 300 win, but have thought about having one in the past, so i am going to make this the very best I can and get a good load built for it so we can get him out shooting on the steel and getting him started on his long trek into the long range world. It should be done or near complete April and hope to be posting pictures in the fall of multiple kills with it.

will keep this parts list up to date:

picked up a stevens model 200 in a 270 that i will have to swap the bolt head to use, but got it for a great price. Will have it all trued up here in the near future and once i get it back i will put a sharp shooter supply competition trigger on it and get it all tuned up.

as well as 100 each of the 210 smk's and 208 hornady match hpbt's

Did he go with a 10 twist or 11? I could run a .300 Win with an 11 twist and be happy, unless I really wanted a 215-230+ grain VLD bullet.

today I ordered the stock he picked out which was a stockade stocks rollover cheek thumbhole. hoping having ordered the barrel and the stock around the same time they may get here about the same time, ha ha ha rite!

here is the sun that i am using as the donor partially broke down, i took the trigger off after the pic and threw it in the zip lock. This weekend I will tear it apart the rest of the way and send the action off to the smith to have it trued up and the lugs lapped.

This weekend I got the barrel off the action and then tore the bolt all apart so I can throw the magnum bolt head on when it shows up, also I can send the action in to get it trued up while waiting on all the parts to show up.
