Put first 50 rounds through my model 11VT .308 today. I did a decent break in on the barrel. The groups really started tightening up as I went along. Groups started out at about 1 1/2". By the end I was getting consistent nickle sized 5 round groups at 100 yards and that was with crap PMC 147gr rounds. Next week I'll put some federal 175gr gold medal match through it to see what she does. I have made no mods to it yet. Still has crappy Bushnell scope on it. And was simply shooting off a rest in the prone.
I'm really impressed with this $450 rifle. I'll be replacing the scope sometime soon along with base and rings. Maybe new stock further down the road. I've shot some of the best rifles in the world (former USMC 8541 and former SWAT sniper) and can say that this Savage is pretty **** good.
I'll be working up some loads for it soon to see just how good it can be.
