Order is in and paid for, except for the twist rate. Want to shoot a wide range of bullet weights...55gr and up.

7 twist or 8?

Depends how high you want to go in bullet weight and what weights are more important to you to shoot accurately. If you want 55-77gr, 8 twist would probably work. If you really want to shoot 90gr bullets, go with the 7 twist.

No ONE chamber (throat length) will work perfect for all of the available bullets. If you are planning to use the heavy for caliber AND seating them out long to keep your case capacity up, your chamber will need to be throated accordingly.

8 twist will take care of 80 gr AMax's with no issues. My factory 9 twist handles everything up to 69 gr HPBT's and 77 gr HPBT's.

If you are planning to shoot the heavy for caliber projectiles, you might consider a 223 AI chamber. 69's at 3300, 75's at 3150.

I built a 222 Mag AI with a 1:8 twist barrel...provides 31xx with 80 gr AMax's in a 28" tube.

I just got a 8 twist Benchmark and it shoots everything from 52s to 75s but I haven't had the chance to shoot any 80s yet. So if it were me I'd go with a 8 twist.

Devin has it on order to chamber, 8 twist. If it shoot as good as the .20 cal he chambered, I'll be happy, sure it will. Thanks for the advise.

So are you getting a Sinarms or a Brux?

Going with another of Devin's barrels. His 20vt is a shooter on this action.

The 8 twist will easily handle the 80s. Using the 7 twist would allow up to 90grains.

In 223 there is not real benefit in shooting the 90 gr bullets over the 80 gr bullets.

8 twist is fine for the 80's

That said my savage 1:7 twist shot berger 90s better than the berger 80s. Odd.
It shot the 52 gr amax super hot bette rthan any other bullet. Also shot them tighter than
the A+B 223 barrel I had.

My new 223 sports a 1 in 12 krieger infront of a Savage target action with a right bolt and left eject. It will be topped with a Nightforce 5.5-22x50 and Joel Russo is doing the stock. It's going to be a "Red Mist Maker" this summer.
