I offered to help a friend out by reloading 303 Savage brass for his old '99. Boy, not much info on this old cartridge! I did manage to buy a new set of Hornady dies and some 170 gr interlock flat nose bullets.
He gave me 100 pcs of once fired Norma brass, correctly headstamped for the .303 Savage. -Nice stuff.
It's a .308 bore, 1 in 12 twist.
I would like to use Hodgden powder but the only load I can find uses the Win 748 powder.
I've also noticed that the Win 30-30 is very similar in case dimensions and loading and I was wondering if I could use a 30-30 load in the 303 Savage case as there's lots of load info for a 30-30 using Varget, H 4831 etc....
But I can't find the SAAMI pressure limits for the 303. Makes me just a little nervous not knowing what pressures to run at.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

According to several of my old manuals (and my experience) you can substitute 30/30 data (and even 32 win spcl due to the slightly larger capacity of the 303).

Would stay away from max loads (due to the lever action and the cost of brass) - no reason to hot rod it anyway.

Norma brass eh?

Been a while since I messed with the 303 Savage. As stated, 30-30 data will work just fine, it's what I used years ago.

Thanx fellas! I like the Stevespages link and there is a ton of 30-30 offerings that look good.
I asked where he got the Norma brass and he bought a bunch of loaded ammo from Reeds Ammo & Research in OK.
Here's a link if anybody is interested http://shop.reedsammo.com/main.sc
