Guys,
Will soon have my first Rem 260 barrel. 8 twist criterion 24" light varmint contour

Will likely shoot Berger 140 grain hunting VLD bullets to start. Could you share some of your favorite recipes/loads/bullets?
Happy Thansgiving all!

41-43 grains of H4350

Right at 42.5 for me and 139 scenars. But I have seen them all in that range for the 140 class.

I have been giving RL17 a try in mine with the 140 Hornady match with good results. I have not found the best combo with that yet, but sub 1/2 inch has been the case with each of the test loads. I have also had good luck with the same powder and Hornady SST 140 grain also for hunting.

I found nodes with the 140 gr (Barnes burner, amax, bthp) with h4350 at 42.8 and at 44-44.2. Rl-17 with the same bullets at 43.2- 43.5.

Also IMR -4350 gave the best accuracy at 43.5 but didn't have the velocity unwanted. I just wanna go fast!

What was your speed @ 42.8gr H4350 with the 140s? I'd guess maybe 2780ish?

My 26" Criterion liked pretty much anything in the 42.8-43.1gr range with 140s.

Actually running around 2815-2825fps at 42.8. I don't know if it was the barrel breaking in and getting faster or what. I had pressure issues early with this 26" CBI. I hadn't had my headspace dialed in correctly for a while (.0065). Shot well over 100 rounds before diagnosing the problem. Reheadspaced at .0035 and worked up to the next node at 44- 44.2. Pushing around 2950 now with no pressure signs.

Looks like I'll start load development with H4350 around 42 grains with the 140 VLD hunting bullets.
