My go to is a trued, tricked, Savage long action with the appropriate barrel and mag changed for the goal at hand. That barrel may be anything from a 17 Fireball all the way to a .50 HPDT (Hammer's Praire Dog Thumper) :o

Also have a lot of barrels between those 2 extremes.

Can kill anything from the smallest to the largest thing on the planet....even stuff that is now extinct.

Stevens model 200 in 270. Simple and to the point. I have Savages and Stevens, HandiRifle, Mauser sporter and model 1992 Winchester in 44M but because I stuck a lightweight Prostaff on the Stevens with a RifleBasix trigger it is as light as a rifle can be in every category. Low recoil. Minimalism and accuracy without the frills. I'm not afraid to scratch it or hunt in the wet stuff. I'm a Stevens fan.

6.5x55 AI, 280 Rem, or Super Duece (LONG 222 Magnum AI) - all built by me. 280 Rem is a McGowen barrel, but the other two were blancks from Rock Creek and Shilen.

6.5x55 AI does it all. Accurate, long distance - no problem, and low in the recoil department.

My go to gun although, the Barrett 50 is a little easier to move around....

But my all time fav is my beloved 30.06 Savage.

I like that!...........Do you think I can get one with a double barrel? You know, for something a little larger than a field mouse? :p

My Go-To has to be my 12FV in 308. The only un-altered Savage I have. It just keeps coming through for me again and again.

It is starting to see a lot of pressure from my 110 in 6-WSM for the top spot. ;)

In SC we are sadly under stocked with any pesky unwanted varmints but I do have a great varmint rifle. It's the most accurate centerfire I own.

Stevens model 200 in .223 with a 6-18x-44ao and RifleBasix trig.

I bought it to swap barrels with but I can't see tinkering with the most accurate rifle I have even though it never gets used. Maybe one day I'll use it on a deer or hog hunt. We can hunt deer with .223 in SC.

Cause your deer are about as big as ours are out here!:(

Sorry to say my 25-06. Respect my AUTHORITAAH!!!, thump.
On the .223 Stevens 200, I agree; very accurate and hate to change it. Wish I shot it more. Turning it into a .22-250 soon so I can.
I own plenty that are capable of everything though. If it was a bug-out hunting/survival, I would want an AR in 6.8. Can't beat that .277 with a stick.

I like my lil Remington r15 223 for hogs, coyotes and just playing around. But if I'm in the deer stand I'm gona have my creedmoor with me. I use it on hogs too, but the 223 is just kinda fun.

My Stevens 200 in 6X47 Rem, consistently a .5 MOA rifle day in and out with 70 grain Nosler BT bullets. It has accounted for hundreds of prairie dogs, multiple coyotes, three pronghorn, and one whitetail deer. Though the deer was taken with the 80 grain Speer Deep Curl.

1969 Browning Bar grade II in 30/06 with a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40. It's like a death ray on the local whitetails.

When I was purchasing my Savage I was specifically looking for a "Go to" or "Do it all" rifle. And it is yet another 30-06.

My favorite go to rifle is a my old school custom Mauser 25-06. I do also hunt with Savage Model American 14's in 308 and 270.

Anything in the -06/08 cartridge department (243,25,260,270,7mm, .30, .338, .35) and classic 6.5x55/7mm Rem really can't be beat. I mean really, lack of recoil, flat shooting, badass cartridges necked up and down.
