Looking for info on this. Good/bad and any good experience with factory loads as not currently reloading. The only thing I think that might need upgraded would be the rings and mounts. Thanks

Rid yourself of the problematic scope as well.

Hello again Anschutz. This model is very common in a very common caliber. There are thousands of happy owners with a rifle just like yours. It is a 243 on a typical Savage Short Action made like all the other savage actions. Chances are it will shoot perfectly fine for most of your needs. The 243 is a fast flying accurate cartridge with moderately low recoil. I have fired several and enjoyed every shot.

If in the future you want to put a wood or laminate stock on it or maybe a more expensive composite stock there are many options. If this is a recent make it is the desirable 4.4" action screw spacing. You can also change cartridges very easily to a 22-250, a 260 rem, 7mm-08 rem, 308 win, 338 fed and a 358 Win with only a barrel change. There are several other calibers to chose from as well.

Here is a link to the specs of your rifle. http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/models/

Are you looking for any specific feedback on your gun?

Nice rifle. It's a Savage so it's accurate but the scope should not be part of your decision making process because it is a cheap scope. Just look at the rifle itself. It's not the Prostaff by Nikon. If you like the rifle then rest assured it will be all you think it is and last longer than you will.

The scope is bore sighted so it will hit paper on the first try. All you need to do is a click or two to fine tune the zero. This is a great help if you've never zeroed a scope before.
