Shooting steel cased Russian ammo in Hog Hunter

Hello Everyone,

I just recently purchased a Hog Hunter in .308 and was wondering if I would have any issues shooting Russian steel cased ammo or if it would damage the rifle? I have been shooting Remington 150gr rounds and those have worked great. I would be using the steel cased ammo just for plinking and having some fun at the range. If I wanted more accuracy I would stick to the Remington. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

Several people have reported problems with Russian steel case with lacquer. Apparently sticky bolt lift, brass getting stuck or "glued" in chamber and the like. I don't shoot anything but my hand loads though so I personally haven't had the issue.

Also, FWIW, I have always found that any Russian ammo is VERY dirty...

I thought they got away from the lacquer coating on the newer ammo.

I shot two boxes Sunday as barrel break in only , accuracy is wanting, like using dirty rounds to break in a barrel myself. No problem with fitment on the Russian stuff but had some COL tightness on my hand loaded Lapua 175 smk's with a COL of 2.810, all good after using my lee hand press to tighten them down to 2.805.

They have, it is now polymer. Any one having it stick in the chamber is running it way fast causing the barrel to get really hot and leaving the case in the chamber way to long. Think of it, millions if not billions of rounds fired in battle rifles over the years and russian ammo is still used in over half the world. It shouldn't hurt anything but may be a bit dirty as stated above.

Wow. I have seen 2.830 and issue but never 2.810. They must be cutting them for the shorter boolits.
