Just curious if anyone has polished the bluing off the bolt and what were the results? Does it rust real bad after it had all the bluing removed?

I'm posting 'cause I wanna know the answer too. I would expect "no" if you simply take proper care of the bolt like you would any other gun…..but then…..

The Stevens 200 bolt is "in the white" and I have never had one of them rust :-)

Well here is the bolt after a bath for a half hour in white vinegar and then about 10 minutes on the drill press getting polished. I am going to give it another 20 minutes on the press to see if I can get it to shine a little more.

I polished mine out to a mirror shine about 3 months ago and since it's been in the rain several times and out in the humid woods without an issue. I do make sure I clean my rifle after every outing though. Good luck to you

LOL! I see what you mean. I'm sporterizing a Mauser and wanted to polish the bolt but then I came to my senses.

I do know that slow rpm's are needed to polish. Under 1200.
