204 Ruger to 204 VarTarg?

If I can get a factory Savage 204 Ruger takeoff barrel at a real good price is the factory 204 Ruger barrel worth refaceing and chambering to 204 VarTarg? can it be done? has anyone done it?

Depends on the contour of the barrel and if there's enough meat at the chamber end to shorten and add a few more threads. I've done a couple and they have worker out real good. Heavy varmint contours seem to work out the best. Shorten the chamber end and add the same amount of threads as you've cut off the chamber.
