Well I bought my model 12 FV about 3 months ago and I am just getting most of it finished up where I can do some load developement. It is currently a .223rem but I am looking to make it a 22-6mm or 22-.243 or something in that range. Would like to still be able to deer hunt with it if I had to here in TX. Here's my list of parts and prices for everything done. Would love some feedback on the gun and from some more experienced builder since this is my first savage build. Thanks!

-Savage Model 12FV with harris 6-9" bipod $330
-B&C Medalist $200
-EGW 20MOA Base $38
-Burris XTR Low Rings $50
-Trigger work (Polish sear faces and new spring/Set at about 2.5lbs) $Free.99
-Glades Armory bolt handle $55
-Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50mm with BDC reticle

Next Steps
-Bedding job
-New calibered barrel
-Cartridge developement

This is how I got it

Nice first project Bam. Personally my 223 is my favorite; instead of modifying you just need to start a new project!

I will see how she shoots and then go from there. Was shooting at about 1.25" with green box remington so I think I could get it down and love it.

Great looking rifle.

If that barrel shows potential for accuracy, you may consider having it rechambered to one of your desired calibers rather than ordering a new one. I have had a few Savage barrels rechambered and they all have done me well.

So I have two questions for you. How did the medalist fit, was there any extra fitting required? And where did you find that medalist for $200? I'm really curious because I'm wanting to set up my 12fv in 22-250 with the same stock.

The medalist fit was great! No barrel contact and everything else it nice and tight, but will be even better with a bedding job. I bought the stock used from a guy on longrangehunting.com and he didn't inform me that the sling swivel nut up from was cross threaded and messed up so I called B&C and I sent it to them and they sent me a brand new one but I bought it from the guy for $200 and it cost me $13 to send back to B&C. MY other B&C 2 piece stock for my Ruger #1 did not fit well but this experience but my trust back in B&C.

That's a pretty sweet deal. I'm really impressed with the way B&C handled that for you.

Me too! There wasn't much else they could do because the nut that is imbedded in the stock for the swivel just started spinning inside the stock and the swivel wouldn't screw in any more nor would it screw out. I was very pleased with them!
