I just bought a 93R17 and have noticed that the safety has a little "hitch" in it when going from safe to "ready" but not the other way. Is there a way to smooth that out safely?

(I searched but didn't see this particular issue addressed so I don't know if it's common to that rifle or not.)

As a matter of fact there is..... Take the barreled action out of the stock and study the detent spring on the safety. The "point" that rides the detent spring will overcome the spring going one way fairly easy. Going the other way puts it in a double compression so to speak. Filing the point to more of a radius on the hard side will let it overcome the spring much easier.

Thanks a million, Sharpshooter. I'll do it tomorrow when I move the barrel/action to its new stock "home." I bought a Boyds rimfire varmint thumb-hole stock for it and it's coming in tomorrow. I'm also putting a scope on it - the rings come in tomorrow too. ;)
