I will be reloading. Will 150gr BT Hunting Nosler work. i do have some 175 SMK 168 AMAX

Any help or suggestion would really help

800yds . . . you will need at least 175's, I can only speak for 600 yds, SMK's 175 do pretty good in my 308

KPT, I have several 308, but cant shoot past 440 yds, thats our ranges max. So i only shoot 168g SMKs at 100 and 200 paper targets, shooting for group size. However my best shooting powder has been Varget. And when loaded with 44.5g of Varget and that 168 SMK, with a 24" barrel, I get 2710 fps, and better than 1/4 MOA accuracy.
I know some guys shoot 150g at the longer ranges, but dont know there load.
Good Luck in your long range shooting venture, and by the way, how do you like that scope, I have the same scope on my 308.
Mike.

I shot 168 amaxs with 44.4grs of varget with cci br-2,out of a 26" tube and get 2700fps and 4-5" groups at 800yrds with -209" of drop but a 10mph , 90 degree wind will blow you off 61".

when you shoot a 308 at those long ranges its all about the wind and exact distances

820 yards is -224" and 65" so its a miss if you thought it was 800

get a good rangfinder and a kestrel wind meter and the amaxs can do it

The below info came from an F class shooter:

* 600 through 1000 yard loads for 308 bolt guns:

Winchester cases, full-length sized.

IMR4064 powder, charge weight as follows for different case weights;

Sierra or Cartiruccio 190-gr. bullet

+ 42.5 grains in case weighing about 150 grains (WCC58).
+ 42.0 grains in case weighing about 157 grains (WCC60 or early Winchester cases).
+ 41.5 grains in case weighing about 165 grains (current Federal)

Note - Sierra's 200-gr. or Berger's 210-gr. bullet can also be used if the powder charge is reduced about 1 grain.

Try some 180 NBT's with the above recommendations! You need the heavier bullet for 600 +shots.

Varget is maybe a little hot for this bullet, Varget is OK for the 150's.
