I'm looking for some load data for a 24" barrel 6.5x55 using hornady 129gr interbonds. I'd like to use IMR4895. I looked in my hornady manual and IMR4895 isn't listed. There is a significant difference checking other various powder loads in the Hornady manual compared with the Hodgdon data. So I figured I'd ask here and see if anybody has data from Sierra or another manual or personal experience.

I don't have any load data for IMR4895. I've found a great load using RL-22 shooting it from a modern action Savage. PM me if you want this info as it's a bit over (if I recall correctly) the "book" load and I would advise you start below that and work up watching for pressure signs.

I have RL22 that I use in my 6.5x55 target rifle. I was trying to save it for that rifle and use imr4895 as I have a surplus of it.

Thanks. As I mentioned in my original post I had already looked at the hodgdon site

I spoke to sierra yesterday and asked them for load data for their 130gr hpbt gamekings. For RL22 he told me 40-47gr and possibly more since I had a modern action. For imr4895 he said 34-42 for a modern action and said the 34 was the starting point for old actions. The velocity difference was minimal

Well, I decided to try the IMR4895. Loaded some 10% below max with variable seating depths. After sighting in my scope, this was the first little group I shot. 3 shot group, 0.58 MOA at 100 yards. 129gr Hornady Interbonds, 38gr IMR4895, CCI200, PRVI brass, 0.01" off lands, Savage 110 with a 24" Varmint contour Shilen barrel. These were shots 5, 6, and 7 out the barrel.

I have a 6.5 Swede in a Rem 700 Classic and I'm in love with this round ! ! ! Even with the 22" tube it is a 400 yard gun all day everyday. I use Lapua brass, Fed 215 Mag primers 140gr. A-Max with medium crimp on top of 50gr. RL-22 loaded long with a muzzle velocity at 2800/2850 fps. On the bench off 50lb. corn sacks it is a 3/8" 1 hole wonder, and hot 12oz. cans full of soda explode at the 400 yrd. mark with several clicks of elevation! Many deer, hogs, 1 cow elk and 1 antelope have fell to this combo. I'm sure I'll get some grief over using A-Max bullets on med/large game, but the velocity is not to hot and these bullets shoot great and have done a great job on the animals I've shot. . .none lost and no long tracking jobs. I love this old round! ! !
