I just installed my new B/C medalist stock and now my cleaning rod hits the stock and i have to bend the rod to get it through the barrel. With the bore guide is that a problem? Its a dewey 38 inch rod and would need to be about 10 to 12 inches longer to make it through the barrel and clear the stock. Here is a pic

Yup, the comb on your stock is tall so you got to buy a longer rod. I had to buy a 50" rod for mine. If you bend it you will eventually ruin your crown.

I have the same problem with my Model 12 .223 in this stock. As I have not been able to find a cleaning rod longer than 44" I've had to remove the action from the stock to clean the barrel - a real pita

Thanks for the tip 82boy - I had the pleasure of speaking with George Dewey this morning and he helped me out with a custom 2-piece rod at 48" so I no longer have to remove my action to clean the barrel. You can reach George at 203-264-3064. And to those who's eyebrows are already going up at the idea of a 2-piece rod, the joint is outside the barrel. . .

I have several Dewey rods and like them all except the 17-20 rod. I would not recommend the 17-20 cal rod in any lenght. It was bowed after the first use. Yes i was using a bore guide nad cleaning from the action. The small rod is not stiff enough in my opionion.
