What is the proper way to package and ship a firearm (rifle) to a manufacturer? I dont want to be in violation of any BATF laws.

You can take it to UPS and they will ship for you. On the return trip it can come right to your house and you just sign for it. You don't need an ffl to ship your own gun to the mfr.

Long guns may be sent via US Mail.

You have to take it to a main hub,an actual UPS location. Not one of those useless UPS "stores".
