I am just curious if the fluted bolt in the lightweight hunter will fit in a standard action. Has anyone tried it?

I'd like to know myself. I would also like to know how much they are.

Have you looked at any of the advertisers on this site that do that work? You may find something you like.

Yup. Just wondering if I can just order the fluted bolt from Savage vs sending my stock bolt out to get it fluted.

Should work. The only change is that its fluted. Action and bolt length is still the same.

I would be surprised if Savage would sell you one. They tend to limit sale of such parts to gunsmiths and dealers. You can always call and ask 'em.

Boots nailed it.

Missed. I agree but not the same look. More like a chromed/blinged out street rod rather than a rat rod kind of thing

PTG fluted bolt…..$325

SSS Fluted Bolt in color, machining your bolt $55, Bolt in color, new bolt $85….Maching your bolt, no color $50, new bolt no color $80.

Yeah……Bolts is bolts is bolts. SSS cost for True and Time action $165.

So….T&T action $165 plus a new racy color bolt $85 for a total of $250. Or…$325 for a PTG fluted bolt. You decide.

You may want too check your facts, the PTG's are under $100 for the fluted bolt body, which is only an $18 difference from the sss not a $235 difference as you suggested. Oh and the ptg is not just a stock bolt that has been fluted, you can select the dia you want. And you can actualy call them up and buy one. You decide.

Again…thanks. I hate it when I dole out bad information. I'm glad you corrected it. But I knew I wasn't crazy as to where I got the price info.

Another option is Longrifles Inc out of Sturgis. I've had four bolts done by them recently, and they do excellent, and quick, work.

They had a special going for awhile too. With Cerakoting it was about the same price as purchasing the SSS bolt.

Dave,
That makes sense, easy mistake. Those are pretty spendy.
