Since stevens/110 actions are getting harder to find and axis rifles are so inexpensive right now I might do a build off an an axis instead. . .

It's my understanding that the axis rifles are only in one action length correct? Does anyone know (or can measure) the differences in the mag bax dimensions? Could I potentially run the same OAL rounds in an axis as I could in a LA 110? Or would they be shorter? Longer?

Thanks for any help!

What cartridges do you have in mind?

Haven't quite decided yet, but 6.5 sherman with 160gr is on the list or perhaps a 280AI

What case do those run out of? I'm not 100% familiar.

both have routes back to the '06 case. 6.5 sherman is based off a 270 win and the 280AI is 280 rem Ackley Improved...

It will run it just make sure you get a 30-06 or 270 version so you get the long action magazine.

Other than that all Axis are technically LA.

Yep. Already knew that. Wanted to know if they are exact same length or longer/shorter than the 110 family of LAs...

I read somewhere that the mag boxes are the same between the Axis and the 110s, only the floor plate is different.
