IMR 4895 and .260 Rem

Why does no one mention IMR 4895 as a preferred powder for .260 Rem? What am I missing? I have excellent results using it for 6mm Remington, .243 and I use it for .223 with very good results...

To answer your question there is one old fart here that uses IMR 4895 for everything from 22 hornet to 7mm rem. mag. ME.
I find the min.-max load then start in the middle and fine tune from there, up a little, down a little, then play with seating depth. When done I usually end up somewhere around .5-.6 groups and some when right on drop to .25-.3. Saves me a lot of $$$ on different powders. There has to be alot of reloaders using it because it was out of stock at most places from Jan. until last month and is still hard to find.

Thanks for the welcome! I appreciate the response and the affirmation that what I thought I knew, someone else also thought! Lol! Certainly when you (me) look at reloading data and see the max velocity capability the desire is there to chase those fps with different powders. Based on some reading, it appeared to me that I could hope to get ~3000 fps performance with IMR 4320, what I ended up with in my rifle, was an above average accurate load, several grains back from max. Meaning that I was not getting the max velocity (I am pushing ~2650 - 2700, I do not have chronograph capability) that I was after. I wont say that I was disapointed, because I got nice loads out of it, but I was certainly hoping for that accuracy level up on the top end of the velocity. With that being said, much like you I really like IMR 4895, it performs very well for me in multiple applications, easy to work with and I also like the aspect of only having one powder inventory to try to keep track of in these market conditions. I think that I will work through the excersize with this powder / caliber and see what comes of it.

Ibex looked at my 260 rem info it is 34.5 grs. of IMR 4895 for 140 gr. smk's and 34 grs. for 140 gr. soft point(hunting) work up slowly. Both shoot well under MOA @ 100 this is with a Stevens 200 LA and a 26" Shilen chrome moly barrel.
