Got a new Simmons 6.5X20X50 Whitetail Classic for my 12fv. The ob bell is 2.51 inches. Any recommendations for base and ring combo ? The existing base and rings are not high enough to keep the ob bell off the barrel.

It is as simple as knowing how to figure radii. You need to raise your scope enough for the centerline of your tube to place your objective above the barrel. Use the centerline of the 1.35 action as an axis. Determine your barrel diameter and get the differences. It is really simple to figure that your using all of that math you learned it 9th grade.

Well, stangfish, you lost me at radii !!!!! The current bases are marked 51S and are very low. They are most likely Weaver. I'm lucky to remember there are round and flat receivers. Mine is round. I was just looking at weaver style bases but my eyes are now crossed (more than usual) and I have to take a break. With bases an 1/8 -1/4 inch higher, I should be good to go.

Get a weaver rail for 16 and some burris rings with the plastic inserts and you will be one happy daddy baby.

You must get tired of dealing with dunces like me !! I've been all over the net looking for a "weaver rail for 16" and I come up with one for an AR15/M16. If I weren't spoon fed, I'd starve to death !!
