I bought a Savage LRP 260 one year ago and I have shot about 1800 rounds with it. It still shoots 5 shot groups 1/2 MOA off a bipod and rear bag. I am replacing this barrel with a 28" McGowen 260AI barrel and I was wondering if the Savage LRP barrel will have much/any resale value with 1800 rounds fired?

Thanks.

From what I have read, a .260 REM barrel should be good for 4-6000 rounds before accuracy drops. But please keep in mind that the numbers can fluctuate greatly depending on the ammunition being used ie if handloads are "hot", shooting while the barrel is hot, no to little cool time between shots etc.

Im hoping to rebarrel my own Savage 12 BVSS-S .223 to a .260REM

Over at accurate shooter there was a right up on barrel. A gentleman had come up with a formula that included bullet velocity, powder charge and powder (heat factor) and some other variables to calculate estimated barrel life. I ran some numbers and it was about 2000-3000 rounds depending on variables but probably closer to 2000. His numbers were pretty close to what actual shooters are getting with different calibers. Just what I read.
