Hi I have a 10FP and I am trying to get Hornady 150 grain Interlock bullets to shoot well. So far I have had no such luck. So my questions are:

Is the 1:10" twist too fast for .30cal 150gr. bullets?

Does anyone else have good luck with these bullets in their 10FP .308?

I know that part of my group sizes is due to my need to develop better shooting skills but I am able to get 4 out of 5 175SMK's touching (.5" or less); however, with the 150's I haven't been able to get more than 2 touching in a group and am getting like 1.5" + group sizes.

Thanks,
Frank

Frank I use 150hpbt match from sierra and shoot one hole consistently(the hole just gets bigger the more rounds I shoot). This is at 100 yards using a 10fp with a 20" barrel mounted in a laminate thumbhole(shot about .75-.80 with the tupperware). Bullet mentioned above with 41.1 grns. of IMR 4895 and CCI large rifle primer, federal match brass.
I never load to max. and find I get better accuracy closer to min..

I don't have any experience with the 10fp barrels but for my SSS douglas custom 308 barrel, I've had good luck with IMR4895 at 45.1 grains.

1:10" twsit is not too fast for 150 gr bullets.

What powder are you using? Have you tried other powders and/or tested different seating depths?

I have been shooting the Hornady 150 gr Interlock a lot with mine. Get great results most of the time, under one inch even at 200 yards. I use BLC(2) and WW 760 powder with this bullet . But try some of the same weight bullets that have a boattail design, I really kick butt with those. Just tried out some 168 gr Sierra
Matchkings...HPBT . 3 rounds, 3/8 inch group at 200 yards....Benchrest powder. This rifle seems to work well with a lot of diffrent bullet styles and weights.

oops...I think that should be Benchmark powder, not Benchrest.

My 10fp holds right at 1 inch groups at 200 yards with sierra 150gr gamekings and 47 grains of varget.

Thank for all of the replies!

I have tried RL15, Varget, TAC and I think I also tried H414 (not at home right now so I can't check for sure). Seating depths, I've tried seated just into the rifling to like -.015 and in-between. If all of you guy's are getting good results with them I'll keep trying them.

How far off the rifling are you guys shooting the 150's?

Also are you finding better results with them loaded closer to max or min?

Thanks,

Frank

I like the 150gr. bullets. I never have trouble finding stock (as opposed to 168/170 grainers), in whatever flavour I like. Bonus is the recoil is slightly milder, too. ;D
