I have this bull barrel, want to change caliber over to a 30/06, was going to sell the bull but if I can rechamber the barrel that would be good too. Its a 28" straight cut CBI bull barrel for a Savage 110. If possible how much barrel length will I lose?

I'm no expert but I'm guessing since the WM case is larger in diameter you would have to cut the whole chamber off and then re-chamber loosing 2 or 3 inches. Might be best to just sell the barrel and buy a new one. Most likely come out at about the same price all said and done and have a brand new barrel.

You need to make sure if you cut it off you have the diameter for the threads.

Its a straight bull barrel Stang, threading should be able to co all the way down the barrel (I hope).
From another post.
Well I sent off the 28" Criterion Bull barrel I had on my Savage to get rechambered in 30/06, Larry Racine will be doing the rechambering and barrel mounting, he is also doing some trigger work on my short action accutrigger at the same time. Seems I will lose about 2 1/2 inches off the barrel, should end up with a 25 1/2 inch bull 30/06 barrel. Have never used Larry's services before but he seems like a dammed nice guy, plus he has some great shooting on his resume'. I have to decide on chamber spec, he has 06 Springfield and match reamers, can someone tell me what the big difference is between the two and advise on what I should get? I m hoping going 25 1/2 inch wont hurt me too bad vs 28, will be looking to shoot it max 1k meters/yards.

Just wondering why you went and rechambered from a 300 WM to 30/06?
