I will start at 2.5 and see how I like it. This rifle will be a bench rest gun only.

You are ready for anything now...up to and including armed zombies. Do you have anything for suppressive fire.

Which Cooley OD do you go with that fits the muzzle flush?

I went with the .750 ...But you will need to get the smaller crush washer and bore out the in inside so it fits the 5/8x24 thread. If you use a 5/8 size crush washer the OD is .830. the large crush washer may be OK on the Cooley .875 end. I have the .875 on mod 10 FP-SR that has a .810 OD barrel and even though there is a little jump, it does not look bad ....and I'm pretty particular on how my stuff looks !

Well I still haven't received my Hog Hunter yet but I have ordered the a bunch of parts already for my precision build. I am curious what you guys think of the stock AccuTrigger? I see that for about $5 I can get the Accutrigger spring from the target action and that will bring the trigger pull weight down a good amount. At this point all I need to get my build complete is a AICS 10 round 223 mag and a scope base. Hopefully by next weekend everything will be in and I can start my build.

I really like the Accu Trigger as it came from the factory. Both of my Hog Hunters are set at the factory about 2.50+ lbs and for me, this being a hunting rifle, is perfect.

Wow the factory bolt handle is really on tight. I figured I would save the new tactical bolt handle for last since it will be so easy to change and come to find out it is the hardest. I watched a bunch of youtube vids and it looked like it came right off but mine is extremely tight. Looks like I am going to have to break out the breaker bar and see if I can pop this handle loose.

I have heard the same thing, my used Mod 11 with DBM will have a new bolt whenever it gets out of gun jail ;- )

After a little more research I ended up getting the bolt knob off and was able to install the new knob. A couple more items and this rifle will be all done.

Which XLR stock did you get, the evolution or the HD ?

That is the Tactical Evolution chassis.

The rear and front sight screws will not thread far enough down to fit flush. You will need shorter screws, plug screws or cut them off.

So I just wanted to post a follow up. I bought some 55gr Hornady Vmax bullets and loaded them up using 23.9gr of TAC. I loaded them 30 thousands off the lands in my Savage model 11 with 20" barrel, Evolution chassis and SWFA Super Sniper 3-15x42mm scope and had great results. I only loaded 10 of the Vmax bullets to try out and I think they work very well in my gun. Here is a shot at 100 yards today, first two I thought were hole for hole, last one I pulled a little bit. Next time out I will load a bunch.
