I recently inherited a savage 16 gauge single shot 220 and am trying to find out more information about it. The gun has an engraving of what appears to be a phesant surrounded by brush, says it was made in Utica but that is about it......No serial numbers or anything like that....I was wondering if someone knew an approx date/value for ins purposes if its worth doing so

Chicopee or a Utica barrel address on it?

Is the receiver a plum color? Does it have a poly choke on the end of the barrel?

Utica address, not a plum color and forgive me I am not sure of the choke....I am not really gun savvy

Well if it's a Utica 220 it was made before 1947.

Never mind the choke, the only other 220 I've seen with that style of engraving had a factory variable choke on it, was just wondering if yours did as well.

Won't be able to date a Utica 220 as they didn't use serial numbers till they moved to Chicopee.

I've got a 219/220 rig myself consisting of a 16 ga, 28 ga, 30-30, 22 Hornet and 25-20 barrels. Still on the prowl for a 20 ga, 410 and a 32-20 barrel.

Thank you for the information...........do you think you could ballpark how much this would be worth for insurance purposes, for the age of the gun it is suprisingly in good condition.....I thought it was only about 30 years old.

It'll run a guy around $150 usually unless it's in a hard to find caliber or gauge which the 16 ga isn't.
