Can a 7mm rem mag barrel work for a 7wsm? Probably not because of the chambering correct?

Depends. If your 7wsm is a short action then no, not as a repeater at least. And if the shank size is different then also no.
If you are looking to rechamber a 7 mag to a 7 wsm then sure it will work, but you'll lose at least an inch of barrel length and you'll have to rethread the tennon. If this is what you're trying to do you might as well start from scratch and buy a barrel blank
